Ean Teng (Karen) is a Research Scientist of CRADLE at the Nanyang Technological University, Singapore. She received her Doctor of Philosophy from the University of Science, Malaysia. She has been in the education sector over the past decade. Prior to joining CRADLE, she was a lecturer and senior lecturer (in addition to the role of course coordinator and programme coordinator) of Information Technology (IT) degree programmes in higher education institutions of Singapore and Malaysia. She has taught various IT courses and actively involved in educational research.
Throughout these years, she has completed several research projects in her area of expertise. She has published numerous publications in various national and international peer-reviewed journals and presented scientific papers across the world. Her research papers have won several awards at the conferences. Among some of her achievements, she won the International Council for Open and Distance Education (ICDE) Prize for Innovation & Best Practice under the theme Open Educational Resources (OER) in 2013 (Tian-Jin). She is also the recipient of Gold Medal (2010-Hanoi & 2014-Hong Kong) and Silver Medal (2013-Islamabad) of Young Innovator Award.
Much of her research and teaching over the years have focused on different pedagogical approaches and educational technology that can be used to deliver learning experiences in a variety of contexts and settings. At present, her research focuses on learning analytics and educational data-mining to analyse and report details of individual learners. She hopes to provide an educational environment with hybrid, integrated approach tailor to the individual needs of the learner.
