Over the week of 18th February, CRADLE was privileged to host Professor Peter Fox and Professor Jack Lancaster along with their team from the Research Imaging Institute, University of Texas Health Science Centre San Antonio.
The week commenced with a BrainMap Research Workshop, where faculty, research staff, clinical professionals and graduate students were introduced to the open access BrainMap database and educated on the related software for undertaking gold-standard meta-analyses and data visualisation of neuroimaging studies.
On 20th February, a BrainMap educational-use brainstorming session was held in conjunction with the National Institute of Education and colleagues from Ministry of Education. This was a productive exchange between neuroscientists, educational researchers and masters' teachers, who discussed ideas for how BrainMap could be utilised in an educational setting, to help teachers and students gain knowledge about the human brain.
The week concluded on the 21st February with a Brain Stimulation Symposium co-hosted with Lee Kong Chian School of Medicine, organising members from National Institute of Education, and sponsorship from Aerobe and Bes Technology. Prof Fox and Prof Lancaster began the event with keynote talks on Transcranial Magnetic Stimulation in psychiatric conditions. The symposium also showcased local expertise in brain stimulation from the Institute of Mental Health, Lee Kong Chian School of Medicine, School of Social Sciences, Centre for Research and Development in Learning, and National Institute of Education.
Overall the week was a success, bringing together over 150 participants from NTU and across Singapore to learn advanced research techniques and formulate ideas for collaboration with the BrainMap team.
