Research Interest: Digital health and education with a focus on emerging technologies
 
Associate Professor Zary is driven by the mission to maximise human health through education and technology, by conducting research driven initiatives, which advance the contribution of emerging technologies, in order to benefit healthcare education and the health of our society.
 
He is the Acting Director of the Medical Education Research and Scholarship Unit (MERSU) and Visiting Associate Professor of Medical Education Research at the Lee Kong Chian School of Medicine in Nanyang Technological University (NTU Singapore). Assoc Prof Zary is Associate Professor of Medical Simulation at Karolinska Institutet (KI), Sweden. He received both his medical degree and PhD from KI and his doctoral thesis focused on virtual patient simulations. He was the former Founding Director of the Centre for Learning and Knowledge (CLK), Director of the Laboratory for Emerging Technologies (LET), and served as Coordinator of the Karolinska Institutet edX MOOC initiative (KIx) at edX.  He also served as the Technical Director for the Wallenberg Global Learning Network (Stanford) and Senior Consultant at Collège des Hautes Etudes en Médecine, France largest CME/CPD provider. Assoc Prof Zary is currently leading the European branch of the ANSI accredited Johns Hopkins based MedBiquitous standardization initiative and is Chair-Elect of the Stanford Medicine X Scientific Advisory Panel.
