Biographical Profile

Dr. Alice H.D. Chan is Assistant Professor in the Division of Linguistics and Multilingual Studies, School of Humanities and Social Sciences, Nanyang Technological University (NTU).  Before joining NTU, she worked in Northwestern University, Communication and Sciences Disorders.
Research Interests

Her research, utilizes behavioral measures and functional brain imaging methods, seeks to understand how experience such as language and social-cultural factors shape the brain and how these experience influence basic sensory perceptual patterns, across the visual and auditory modalities.  Dr Chan is also interested in exploring speech and language learning in young and older encultured brains. 
Research Interest in the Neuroscience of Learning and Education

With an understanding of the possible influence of prior experience on basic perception and cognition, Dr Chan is keen to further examine how prior experience such as bilingual experience might affect learning of new language and new skills such music and pitch perception, across the life span.
